Cíle předmětu
Students will learn about the current issues in the international child protection field such as separated children and family reunion in emergencies, child soldiers, early marriages and child trafficking. They should understand the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in humanitarian action and the role of the Czech authorities with respect to international child protection. They should be also able to understand and analyze different child protection systems from key perspectives: (1) social, political and cultural context of child welfare services, (2) family policy and the position of family in society, and (3) the state as a parent. This should assist them, as future development or social work professionals, to objectively reflect on own and foreign child protection systems and to understand different principles and practices that strive to protect children from harm, risk and abuse.
